Description Chris Denice 2013-03-27 08:28:36 CET
Description of problem:

using boot.iso with network install takes a *very long* time even on a 10Mb connection. It announces 5-10h of upgrade even by selecting the minimal number of media (core release only).

Playing with the CTRL+ALT+Fx, the packages are downloaded fast (up to 10Mb/s) but the installer looses *a lot* of time doing this:

"workaround bug in rpmlib by removing /var/lib/rpm/__db*"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mageia 3 beta 4

How reproducible:
try a boot.iso install upgrading from mga2 -> mga3

Reproducible:

>It announces 5-10h of upgrade even by selecting the minimal number of media (core release only).

after how much time ? iirc it should decrease fast.

using ps or pstree should maybe have more info (and for now I didn't see any similar comments from QA people making upgrade)

long enough to be stable I suspect, like 10mns. I started the upgrade in the evening, and it was still there in the morning and has failed during the night. But I suspect it is a side effect because being so-long means also that our current Cauldron mirrors can change.

Too old to be relevant. If and when seen in current installer (5beta1+), it should be reported again.
