pterjan, sysadmin-bugs, thierry.vignaud Sorry, I did not saw the mail. I think it's the same, but as I don't want to break my home setup again, I'll try next week at work (where I have many computers to play with). There have been lots of changes recently. tmb, is this bug likely to be fixed now? Adding qa in CC who could tell maybe, too. CC:

RESOLVED |
Description of problem: Using live installer to install on a softraid+lvm setup already existing. This hdd setup is not recognised automatically (1st problem), so the logic (at least, that's how I did it) is that we first add the partition to raid arrays, using expert mode. So select a partition and click 'Add to Raid' ('Ajouter au RAID' in french). The live installer then wants to install 'mdadm' but does not finds it (2nd problem). If we previously had added the software sources, it is ok. Having done that, rerun the installer, add the partitions to raid volumes. Instead of the lvm volume group, the raid tab shows one big ext4 partition. I then tried to change the type to lvm, but then it's a new VG and the existing logical volume are not there. Even bigger problems : the bad actions are already done and either clicking on finish or to File menu / Quit let the disk setup in the bad shape (either ext4 partition or the new VG instead of the existing lvm VG). Needless to say that if everything was not backed up, you loose data. Usually, installers, at least previous Mandriva and Fedora, execute actions only when all partitions / raid vloumes / lvm parts are setup and you confirm and alway let you an exit door which does not break your setup. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 3 beta 3 live installer How reproducible: easilly reproducible Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to install on an existing softraid+lvm setup 2. loose your data Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
