Comment 1 James Kerr 2013-05-09 14:48:34 CEST
I can confirm that this bug still exists. It seems that because of this bug rkhunter may fail to run from /etc/cron.daily, unless the offending line (830) is commented. The full error message is:

/etc/cron.daily/rkhunter:
Invalid RTKT_FILE_WHITELIST configuration option: Non-existent pathname: /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/rkhunter exited with return code 1

Since this is security related (many users may depend on the cron job to run rkhunter), I have raised the severity to major.

I have the same problem with rkhunter on mga3 (official) :

# rkhunter --check
Invalid RTKT_FILE_WHITELIST configuration option: Non-existent pathname: /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
Invalid RTKT_FILE_WHITELIST configuration option: Non-existent pathname: /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

Hi, thank you for your report. I believe the update in updates_testing rkhunter-1.4.0-3.1.mga3 fixes this problem. Please test it, I hope it solves this problem. Additionally, it should also cover the issues reported in #8172 and #9313
