Hello. Please create different bugs for different issues. CC:

boklm First your report is just not usable. General assumption cannot help. We need fact. Second Mageia is just starting. People contributing there did an amazing job for now. If you want more software, you can join packagers team, you are welcome. Third, please check your system is up to date. Iceape is working perfectly well and XFCE is 4.8 urpmq -i libxfce4panel3 Name : libxfce4panel3 Version : 4.8.3 Release : 1.mga1 CC:

ennael1 Thank you for the information. I installed the 4 GB Mageia 1 Beta 1 DVD. Once I performed the installation, I attempted to perform a system upgrade, using urpmi --auto-upgrade. I tried to install as many desktops, tools, and environments as possible so that I could evaluate them. The KDE and LXDE environments were installed directly from the DVD, and they looked good. I did not see the Xfce environment, and I tried to acquire it, but perhaps the repository needed was not enabled by default following the installation. Regarding seamonkey, I did attempt to install it, and for some reason, I did not get the 2.0.13 Seamonkey version I was expecting. Where can I read to find out which repositories are available? Perhaps I need to enable additional repositories and update them to see the wealth of software that is now actually available. I am quite impressed with the overall effort that's there. Maybe something is simply missing after the DVD installation. Given the massive size of the 4 GB DVD, I was assuming that all of the packages available would be there. Could you point me to some documentation so that I can review what I can do to configure the repositories? Maybe all that's lacking is the right respository list enabled on my system. If you could send me that information, we can close this defect and I will enable the appropriate repositories, update the software again, and report any discrepancies. Overall things look pretty good. These were the only anomolies I encountered after installing the large Beta 1 DVD. Thank you for your quick response to my inquiry. Since Mageia is a fork of Mandriva, much of the information in the Mandriva wiki applies to Mageia. http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Docs/Basic_tasks/Installing_and_removing_software An important difference is that in Mageia the main and contrib repo's are combined in the core repo and Mageia has a tainted repo (software that may be encumbered by licence or other limitations in some countries). There are many more packages available than could possibly be included in a single DVD. To install xfce, install the task-xfce package. Thank you very much James! Apprently yesterday after I installed the DVD, when I thought I had refreshed the repository, it didn't "take" as I had thought and expected. Simply using MCC today, (and modifying my selection of repositories), 1. Iceape functioned as expected, so that issue is resolved. 2, A whopping 881 packages were marked with updates, a clear indication that the updates following yesterday's installation did not take place. So my first question or issue with Seamonkey/Iceape is 100% resolved; it is working. When the updates complete, I'll know if XFCE is at least visible to me. Meanwhile, I am getting the KDE 4.6.2 updates, which also make me happy. Let's just close this defect. I thank all of you for your very prompt assistance. Now that the repositories are refreshing as expected, I fully expect that all of my questions and issues will take care of themselves, and since the behavior of the repositories is similar to that of Mandriva, I am sure that I will be able to get through all of it, and I fully expect that Xfce will work fine. I've seen the overall quality of the packages so far to exceed the quality of the matching Mandriva packages - since you guys left, Mandriva seems to be going down the tubes, unfortunately. (But that's their fault for letting go some of their best people)! Thanks once again; what you've stated in this report matches what I am now seeing, so again, thank you, and let's close this one out! Thank you all for your help! Status:
