and after a /load perl ? Source RPM:

irssi load perl fixed it, how do i do this by default? hmm from what i read at the irssi site, it should be auto loaded. dunno why it is not you can add 'load perl' in .irssi/startup for yourself, but this should more be set somewhere else with pkg Assignee:

I just tested irssi and irssi-perl on my old MDV 2010.2 system, the perl module isn't auto-loaded there either. However it does auto-load on Debian, and I see that's because Debian compile with perl as a static module, where as Mandriva and Mageia build it as a dynamic module. If we did not, it would not be possible to run irssi without perl support. Closing as invalid. Status:
