I have updated it as best I know how but still does not work. Can I uninstall that kernel and perhaps reinstall it?
Comment 5 brian lee 2013-01-11 22:43:13 CET
Also, I was not using the proprietary video driver to the best of my knowledge. I never told it to use it anyways.

update, i have removed the kernel and reboot just fine. then i reinstalled the kernel and the issue comes right back. it is definitely the 3.8kernel rc4 that's the issue. not sure why though.
Comment 7 brian lee 2013-01-25 06:38:56 CET
decided today to try the kernel again. somehow, for whatever reason, having kept all my other files updated as well, it decides to work! so for now, this can be closed.
