hmm, no the text mode is now also looking for available packages but no any disk or network activity i observe. i don't get to the custom desktop dialog and yesterday i did it all fine more than 15mins awaiting already i'll try the newest iso right now (In reply to comment #3) > i don't get to the custom desktop dialog > and yesterday i did it all fine > more than 15mins awaiting already I don't understand how you could. I've been testing this almost daily for several weeks now, and it fails solidly. Apparently, this has to do with missing libraries for libreoffice. "Looking for available packages" gets into a loop trying to include libreoffice and disqualifying it. Created attachment 3311 [details]

i don't understand why it is looking for packages if i don't have them, because i've setted up a new default file system. ok i've left only Core Release from repos and i get to the next screen! and before there were 32bit releases and nonfree releases marked. (In reply to comment #7) > i don't understand why it is looking for packages if i don't have them, > because i've setted up a new default file system. No, it's a dependency loop in the set of core packages. It would be more accurate to say "assembling list of packages to install". You'll notice that the previous panel, "Looking for packages already installed", disappears quickly because, as you say, you're doing a fresh install and formatting the install partition. (In reply to comment #8) > ok > i've left only Core Release from repos and i get to the next screen! That's interesting, and may have bearing on the problem. Created attachment 3312 [details]

i've choosed only "internet" and "other" desktop failed 33 packages - failed installation then checking back available packages (yes i mentioned installed packages) now the screen disappears faster but building the tree is much longer after choosing just "desktop-other" i've finished the installation process so will try to find the error log of failed packages no - i don't have the install.log in var/log some64libs werent found some clutter? i thought to prntscrn it but would be better to have an install.error.log that's LoL after choosing the 32bits core i get the looking available packages right out of the rpmdrake! but actually i mentioned that when i marked it it wasn't asking me to update and probably it is not downloading sources because of some error in the string To get the log, you need to plug in a USB flash drive, do CTRL-ALT-F2, and type "bug". This will put a text file called report.bug on the flash drive. But it's useless to do this, as it's already been done for bug#7830. i will get into another terminal of my working system - i'm running installation in VM and it's hard to send it without going to fullscreen and actually my usb flash was with sun solaris and then with crucnhbang+tor - so even i not really sure wich partition it will see first. for VM i would create something more interesting - maybe some simple copy-paste-to-buffer function? the interesting thing was that i was waiting for 5 mins till it finishes to do something but then just mouseclick on the window and "searching available packages" disappeared. and i've posted some more tweaks for installer, so could be interesting. you can on the other tty what's happen, anyway we need real logs for debbuging if there is something new broken (beside the libreoffice loop) Also there was a gtk 32b loop iirc which was fixed (seen on the dev ml) Keywords:

I out some work..
so you can go on the other tty to see what's happening
well i can't start the old one VM and was fighting with my ftp =)) some libs has no permissions to load and ftp was down, so i got the latest of beta3 urpmi 2 files . oh it's the wrong topic, srry . That's because the GUI thread is looping and can't repaint the screen... i think that the main problem is that some packages between archs are messing with each other, because they are trying to resolve cross dependencies. so for x64 Core systems should be created a list of selected x32packages that will not conflict with x64 prebuilt packages. no such messages since age in all my test install Status:
