Description Stephen Pettin 2012-12-25 13:28:06 CET
Description of problem:
No gtkam included in the repositories.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
0.1.17, I believe is the latest release.

I have an Intel C2D system running Mga3 Alpha 3. Installed using Livecd Gnome 3. But I'm using the i586 platform.

Gtkam is not in repositories, that I'm aware of.

I was able to find and install Mandriva 2011 rpm version of gtkam but still having some issues with it not picking up my Kodak C300 camera.

This was one of the dependencies and I had to use Mdv 2011 rpm version also.

libexif-gtk.so

I did install gphoto2 from mga3 calderon's repositories.

Thanks.

This is still not in the repositories. It would be nice if it can be included when someone have the time to include it, maybe after Mga5 is released or for Mga6. Sorry, but I don't have the skills set to make the package.

Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes.

You might also want to join the packager team to maintain this piece of software: see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager

Hi. I've used gtkam for many years on the descendants of Mandrake. I've tried digikam and find it unworkable: it seems to want to control my usage instead of the other way around. With gtkam, I can select pictures, preview in a viewer, download to whatever directory I choose in a file browser. With digikam, there seems to be some sort of indexing of my entire mounted space: 6 or 7 T, maybe 14T if nfs mounts are included (looks like 9.6T when I run `du -sh`). I'm not sure how it works, just that first run takes a lot of time and is not easily configurable. Then, afaict, I have to put the images where digikam wants me to or configure some sort of "Album" or "Collection" for every directory where I want to just save the images. AFAICT, there is no way to simply download in a file browser.

Sometimes, I can find a ROSA package that works here. This one installs on MGA6 Plasma5 and I've just downloaded a couple of pictures in the file browser in a brief initial test: http://abf-downloads.rosalinux.ru/rosa2016.1/repository/x86_64/contrib/release/gtkam-0.2.0-6-rosa2016.1.x86_64.rpm

I can open gtkam from the menu, it recognizes the connected camera (probably from the previously configured files in ~), and seems to work with my simple test of my simple needs. There doesn't seem to be a configuration for device notifier but it's preferable to taking out the SD card.

The source rpm reported by `rpm -qi` is here: http://abf-downloads.rosalinux.ru/rosa2016.1/repository/SRPMS/contrib/release/gtkam-0.2.0-6.src.rpm

Thanks.

Mageia 2 is long time gone. I'll close.
