Installing using the Mageia-3 beta 1 x86_64 DVD, with non-free repository enabled.

From the summary screen, I attempt to set up the wireless network connection. I get to the screen saying:

  Select the network interface to configure

with two options

  o : Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection
  o : Use a Windows driver (with ndiswrapper)

but after selecting the first option, I get the pop-up message

  Unable to find network interface for selected device (using iwlwifi driver)

After booting into the installed system, I can successfully configure the interface (once I've killed off NetworkManager). The obvious difference is that the first option now reads

  o wlan0: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection

i.e. it has now found a wlan0 device.

The same problem occurs on a second machine with an Intel 6230 AGN interface.

iinm with RC, some wifi modules were reverted... @martin, can you retest with RC?

Those firmwares are non free and thus are not included in the regular ISO.
You need to use boot-nonfree.iso instead of boot.iso.

but dvds iso includes them now, no ?

@AL13N, yes, bug still present.

@Thierry, Manuel is correct. As noted in my initial report, the wireless network connection can be configured once I boot into the freshly installed system - so the firmware is most definitely on the DVD.

As Thierry noted in comment 7, the firmware is not avaiable in the installer  as it's not free. It's only available in nonfree media so it can be installed and used on the freshly installed system.

only boot-nonfree.iso and live medias have the nonfree firmware available at all times
