Description of problem:

Xonar DX is a 7.1-channels sound card of ASUS. Its panel has a input jack and four output jacks: Front, Side, Center-Subwoofer, Back. According to the card's manual, a pair of 2.0-channels speakers or a headphone should be connected with the Front output jack of its panel.

With alsa-utils installed, only the Side output of the card's panel has sound when the hardware configuration profile is set to "Analog Stereo Duplex". The result of speakers' test shows that the Side output is recognized as the Front output.

When the hardware configuration profile of the card is set to "Analog Surround 7.1 Output + Analog Stereo Input", the Front jack of the card's panel still can't work, the Side output is recognized as the Side output.

After uninstalling alsa-utils and restarting computer, the Front output of the card's panel will have sound and work properly.

that it works in Fedora, what version of alsa-utils does that Fedora install have?

Make sure the system works as expected, and attach, to this report, the .txt file resulting from executing:
pacmd ls > /tmp/pacmd-ls-working.txt


then install alsa-utils, reboot, when/if the sound setup breaks, attach the .txt file resulting from executing:
pacmd ls > /tmp/pacmd-ls-broken.txt

I have returned the sound card. So I can't test it any more. I think that now it is better to close the bug report, and you can save time for solving other bugs. If someone meets such a problem, he can re-open it.
