After a long hiatus (about two years), the development of FBReader's desktop version has started up again a few months ago. 

From the website, the main improvements are: 
- doc support, 
- better rtf and epub support, 
- extended language and localisation support; 
- asynchronous network library, 
- various fixes. 

Possible problems are: 
- interface is Qt4 only (no more GTK at this time), 
- linebreak (liblinebreak-20080321-5.mga1.src.rpm) must be replaced by libunibreak with a possible impact on perl-Unicode-LineBreak (perl-Unicode-LineBreak-2012.100.0-1.mga3.src.rpm). 

The libunibreak project lives at http://vimgadgets.sourceforge.net/libunibreak/ and seems to be a continuation of the liblinebreakproject. libunibreak supersedes liblinebreak and is supposed to be a superset of it: there may be no impact on the perl-Unicode-LineBreak bindings. 
It uses the zlib/libpng licence (a BSD licence variation).

FBReader in cauldron is about two years old: there have been 5 new versions in the past few months (the changelog in the bug report above is a short version of the recent developments). 

-> fbreader-0.12.10-5.mga1 in cauldron. 
-> fbreader 0.99.4 on the project's website.

Oh, I tend to be a lazy user and only check the packages, not the build machines. 

I'd have to try the build to be sure (or at least fake it somewhat), but I'd guess the gtk+2-devel dependency has been replaced by some qt4-devel dependencies. No more GTK for the new FBReader. 

I am supposed to install cauldron this week-end (have been for a while actually). 
I'll try and test the thing tomorrow.
