The icons cannot be capture, so it is a camara shot.
I can confirm this bug is still present in Mageia 3 beta 3. It is not confined to AMD graphics - I have also seen it on a machine with Intel graphics. It is also not confined to GNOME Shell - I am using fall-back mode. Just to restate, there are two separate problems here: 1) The GNOME on-screen display (OSD) for the sound volume and brightness FN keys no longer displays a bar graph indicating the current setting and is no longer themed correctly (should be black background with the Adwaita theme). 2) The resolution of the brightness control has been reduced. With Mageia-2/GNOME 3.4 my laptop has 5 brightness levels available. With Mageia-3/GNOME 3.6 this has been reduced to 3 levels. This also applies when using the GNOME system settings tool - and the steps are no longer spaced over the full slider (maximum brightness is reached when the slider is at about 15%). I would assume these are upstream bugs, but Google hasn't found me anyone else reporting these issues. I've taken the liberty of editing the bug summary to make it more explicit. CC:
