i was trying to install some software but a popup with update appeared in the right corner and i've pressed it, it was installed something and said that's all ok now, then i closed that window and began to browse software but the popup with update was still there and i've pressed again to update. i'm not really sure if that was this moment but after that in the software center i saw in left corner "getting XML data" - something  and the window was stucked. so i've closed it and start again and it told me that something is locked i've looked for the process that was the urpmi.update that i cannot kill as a user and by default even if i'm the only user i cannot sudo execute because i'm not in sudoers file but i can su and then kill. 
for the su command i would recommend to execute sudo first to know that this is the authenticated user executing su command - maybe, it's not a big deal to forget opened terminal on other tty.

just tried to do something else
opened software manager - then go to sound
find package mediainfo-gui-common - try to open changelog
my software manager hanged around and a round

your bug is confuse, and why do you kill something that update your package ?

if you wait a little you can continue to play with rpmdrake or whatever, without making anything.

i've been waiting about 10-15 mins and the update was finished before.
