Description claire robinson 2012-11-14 13:14:06 CET
Actually noticed before 3alpha3 too but I couldn't find a bug for it.

The classic installer doesn't automatically configure monitors in the way it used to. It asks now, for everybody I've spoken to, to configure the monitor manually.

My monitor, I'm sure, was previously detected as a plug'n'play L19FM.

The report.bug.xz was after an installation from dualcd but this is a problem for all installations.

OK, this is due to Guillaume having changed to use its new Parse::EDID module... without actually including it in the installer

Thanks Thierry!
Comment 5 Filip Komar 2012-11-17 14:53:34 CET
I noticed very nasty behaviour during boot LiveDVD KDE M3A3 from USB. CRT just turned off during boot of LIVE mode. I tried different resolutions unsuccessfully. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't responded but MagicKeys did ;). Then I tried text mode which luckily worked.

Is this connected?

Perhaps bug 7774?

I don't think so. VGA is "Intel 810 or later". IIRC this monitor supports EDID (see bellow for more) and resolution 1600x1200 up to 86Hz (tested).

And I can't switch to any of virtual consoles anyway.

returns nothing but

# monitor-get-edid -v

Strange enough adding "xdriver=intel" (and removing "splash" and "quiet" to see some more) from boot line helps.
