Steps to Reproduce:

install mageia 3 a2
then
for the first time open a session
then
open draknet
go to wifi adapater management
then
you see no wifi network

as root with lsmod you see all modules of the driver for the wifi adapter are there and loaded

then install the packet for installing the ralink firmware

ralink-firmware-20121030-1.mga3.nonfree.noarch.rpm

then now you see all the wifi networks in the neighborhood

how have you installed cauldron ?

is the online media added and the nonfree media enable when you run drakconnect ?

to install mageia 3 a 3
i used iso dvd

this is the installer which installed my wifi adapter

i didn't use drakconnect.

what does that mean ? it was automatically installed or not ? (after the install)

if you fallow my first comment, it should works. So I don't see your bug. 
if it doesn't then there is one, and you will have to attach the output of lspcidrake -v.

Steps to Reproduce:

install mageia 3 a2 with "installer dvd"
then
at the end of the installation procedure reboot your pc
then
for the first time open a kde session
then
open draknet
then
go to wifi adapter management
then
you see a wlan0 connexion was created during installation procedure
but no wifi network is displayed in the list
then
as root with lsmod you see all modules of the driver for the wifi adapter are
there and loaded
then
install the packet for installing the ralink firmware

ralink-firmware-20121030-1.mga3.nonfree.noarch.rpm

then
now you see all the wifi networks in the neighborhood

conclusion : during mageia installation procedure a wlan0 connection is created.
the ralink driver is uncompletely installed.

yes because your card needs a nonfree drivers which is not (yet in the iso), 
if you add online media and enable nonfree it should install the package automatically.

it's this way since a long time now.
