Description of problem:
I installed an nVidia video driver for my card via MCC, but for months been baffled of the terrible High Definition video playback, especially MPEG4, lots of stuttering etc. After much tracking down, I found that the VDPAU extensions that the card / Linux can use to accelerate video by offloading processing power was not automatically installed at the same time the graphics card driver was. On install and reboot, VDPAU made a dramatic for the better improvement to HD video performance.

I request a script is produced that all necessary VDPAU packages are automatically installed if a "modern" nVidia card is installed.

Did you install Nvidia driver as packaged by Mageia or directly from nvidia website?

The driver was from the package manager (MCC) and not the driver from nVidia website.

Just to add in case it matters, the driver installed was for the GF108 [GeForce GT 430].

Changing version to Cauldron for keeping this request.
When Mageia 2 will be in End Of Life in a little more than one month, we will close these version bugs.

Hi Dariusz, is this issue still valid in Mageia 4?
