Definitely not. The issue you are experiencing it is related to the format and/or size of the icon. 
The desktop file is correct, it has passed the validation check.

I'm on it, thanks for reporting it.

tkgate-2.0-4.mga3 should fix this issue.
Let me know if it works with your DE, too. I'm using razorqt and now the icon is shown correctly.
