Description of problem:

Some weeks ago I found an interesting distribution for digital forensics: 
CAINE 2.0 (http://www.caine-live.net/index.html) 
CAINE offers a complete forensic environment that is organized to integrate existing software tools as software modules and to provide a friendly graphical interface, all based on open source. 
"Unfortunatelyâ it is based on Ubuntu 10.04. 

It also exist a deb package which installs all these nice tools on every installed Ubuntu 10.04.

So I have the idea to get a meta-package for digital forensics. 
In the next time I (perhaps also some others) will collect some tools for digital forensics (based on CAINE) and put them in this bug if existing for Mageia.

For programs/tools which do not exist as Mageia RPM I will make a new bug and will link with this bug (using the field âDepends onâ).

Since I am only a simple user (I have no idea about the package building) I can only help in the collection.

List of programms

I have compiled a rather raw list of the needed programs.
These are programs that are included in CAINE. 

For a very few I've filed a bug. Some are also already available (state = inside).

The list is being updated and improved.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

I think that people are able to select what they need by themself depending on their need, especially in a highly technical area like digital forensic

( and you didn't add any depends :/ )

I agree with you.
But it would be nice, if Mageia includes some good tools for digital forensic.

It's just convenient to have a meta-package, and not to install all the packages individually.

If you want to add depend, you should do it properly : 
click on "edit", just on the left of the "Depends on " field, and add bug number there.

It might surprise you, but all our packagers have spend years of their lives not knowing anything at all about packaging.
