Among the other nice-to-have functions, quite important is qpx' ability to update firmware of cd/dvd drives.

Tested okay for me.

But I have to admit I have no drives to update the firware at the moment, but it worked earlier in Mandriva, so I'm confident it can do the same on Mageia.
