Description Anderson Carvalho 2012-09-01 23:19:55 CEST
Description of problem:
To install mplayer-vaapi and mencoder-vaapi urpmi uninstalls all packages that depend on mplayer. To be able to install mplayer and mencoder I had to do:
# rpm -e --nodeps mplayer mencoder
# urpmi --allow-force mplayer-vaapi mencoder-vaapi

However were unmet dependencies:
# smart check

Dependency not met: acidrip-0.14-10.mga1@noarch requires mencoder
Dependency not met: 1. audiokonverter-5.9.1-mga2@noarch requires mplayer
Dependency not met: ogmrip-0.13.8-1bdk.mga2@x86_64 requires mencoder
Dependency not met: rosa-media-player-1.5-8 2012.0@rosa.lts.x86_64 requires mplayer > = 1.0-1.rc1
Dependency not met: rosa-media-player-1.5-8 2012.0@rosa.lts.x86_64 requires mencoder
Dependency not met: smplayer-0.8.0-1.mga3@x86_64 requires mplayer > = 1.0-1.rc1
Dependency not met: tovid-0.34-rev3450.1bdk @ mga2 requires mplayer x86_64
Dependency not met: tovid-1bdk. rev3450-0.34 mga2 @ x86_64 requires mencoder

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.0-1.rc4.0.20110127.2.mga2.tainted

How reproducible:
Having already installed mplayer and mencoder and packages that depend on them to run the command:
# urpmi mplayer-vaapi mencoder-vaapi

So should be fixed mplayer-vaapi and mencoder-vaapi to satisfy the dependency mplayer and mencoder respectively.

This bug prevents people from using the mplayer-vaapi and mencoder-vaapi packages with packages that depend on mplayer and mencoder.

I have same issue. Adding Provides array to specfile should fix this.

This mplayer fork should not have even been packaged. Most of us didn't even know about it. It has since been removed from the distribution. It's unsupported and doesn't contain fixes for security issues that we've fixed in mplayer. Please use mplayer instead.

You could pass the data to confirm that it really is fork of mplayer? If I am not mistaken it is a building of mplayer with support VAAPI active, and for those who have intel cpu brings many advantages.
