Description of problem:
I can't print some pdf files. In the web interface, for the failed jobs, there is an error "/usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftops failed". Nothing suspicious in /var/log/cups/error_log. Launchpad says that there's a fix from upstream for a similiar problem. 

Small pdf files without huge content do not seem to cause any problems. So I suspect there's an issue with the filter and big content.

My printer is a Samsung ML-1640, so I don't understand the possible connection to hplip (see launchpad bug). I'm using Splix.

I tried epdfview and evince.

We have a new poppler in cauldron that fixes a crash in pdftops, did this fix your problem?
(/usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftops uses /usr/bin/pdftops which uses libpoppler)

Thanks for the hint.

I think it's fixed. At least, I can't reproduce the issue with the new poppler.
