This webcam works much better on Fedora 16 and perfectly on Debian Wheezy, both with vlc and Linphone, softwares and kernels versions provided by these distributions. Two complementary experiments: On one computer are installed Mageia 2 and Debian wheezy. Same Linphone 3.5.2 on the two OSes. 1) From Mageia I run Debian's Linphone : $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/mnt/debrac/usr/lib /mnt/debrac/usr/bin/linphone => Very dark image from my webcam 2) From Debian I run Mageia's Linphone : $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/mnt/magrac/usr/lib /mnt/magrac/usr/bin/linphone => Wonderful image from my webcam One complementary experiment: I did compile and install on Mageia 2 gspca modules from Debian Wheezy sources, without applying any more patch, and now my webcam provides beautiful images in Linphone, in VLC, in cheese. (When starting applications, the first images are dark, but they become lighter after a few steps.) Lastly, I tried on Mageia 2 kernel 3.5 from cauldron. The issue is still present.

The only way I found was to install linux-source .deb package on my Debian
Wheezy.
wh(In reply to comment #7) > > where can i found source of the gspca modules according to compile and install > > them ? > > > > thanks > > The only way I found was to install linux-source .deb package on my Debian > Wheezy. what is the url of the packet of the source of gspca modules ? thanks i found the solution see here comment 16 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49591 (In reply to comment #9) > i found the solution > > see here comment 16 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49591 I am very happy for you but this solution is not the solution for "my" bug I described. I downloaded and compiled easily JF.moine's gspca-2.15.19 on Mageia 2 (linux-3.3.8) and loaded the new gspca_main and gspca_zc3xx modules without any improvement. Images from my webcam are too dark but they are displayed, my bug is not the same than your's. (And it is not the same than 8058.) Sorry, but this bug saw no action since over 2 yrs ago. No cauldron package has stayed the same since then. Closing as OLD Please reopen if this report is still valid for _current_ cauldron and/or fully updated Mageia 4 Status:
