I have uploaded a patched package for Mageia 2.

You can test this by simply starting skychart and verifying that there are no application freezes. Trying to test it a bit more deeply should be a good choice just to be sure that there are no other crashes/freeze.

This bug causes an application freeze at startup characterized by a blank window. It is related to fpc 2.6.0 that is not accepting the previous way of calling overloaded routines.

Note please that the current version of skychart is not usable due to this bug.

Testing complete on i586, MGA2.

I could reproduce the problem, the update fixes it.
However, I found another minor bug: the application is categorized differently in rpmdrake (graphics section) and the launch menu (science -> astronomy section). This should be fixed. Please comment when you pushed an updated version to updates/testing.

I set the severity to critical because the current version of skychart wasn't working at all, but I see no problem to set it to Normal.

Category fixed: now is Sciences/Astronomy.

Package skychart-3.4-1.3.mga2 available into core/updates_testing.

Not sure if Mageia handles this in a different way, but IIRC Critical is typically used for bugs which result in data loss/corruption, broken systems or even hardware (driver bugs)...

Anyway, back to topic;

The program itself still works fine, it is correctly localized, and the package is now correctly categorized (in Sciences/Astronomy).

Tested on Mageia 2 x86_64. Works fine.

I could reproduce the bug, and the update fixes it. I played a bit with the software and had no issue (apart that it runs a bit slowly on my notebook, but this should be related to my basic hardware).
