Description Derek Jennings 2012-06-14 16:48:23 CEST
MythTV with mythtv-plugin-music on inserting an audio CD it is not recognised.
DVDs play OK

The frontend log records

$ mythfrontend --geometry 640x480 -v media,playback,extra

2012-06-14 15:41:01.882978 I  Posting MediaEvent (MEDIATYPE_UNKNOWN, MEDIASTAT_USEABLE -> MEDIASTAT_OPEN)
2012-06-14 15:41:12.275953 I  /dev/sr0 Media changed
2012-06-14 15:41:17.773375 I  /dev/sr0 Current status MEDIASTAT_OPEN
2012-06-14 15:41:17.903072 I  Posting MediaEvent (MEDIATYPE_AUDIO, MEDIASTAT_OPEN -> MEDIASTAT_USEABLE)
2012-06-14 15:41:17.903120 I No media handler found for event type

On checking with the requirements for MythTV 0.25 I note the Require for libcdaudio is gone, but there is a new Require for libcdio
The spec file of mythyv-plugins does not list libcdio
(I am not sure if it is a run time require, or a build require)
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Release_Notes_-_0.25

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mythplugins-0.25-20120602.0.2.mga2

How reproducible:
Every time. Start the mythfrontend, insert an audio CD and nothing happens apart from the log entry "No media handler found for event type"

Affects Mageia 2 and Cauldron

mythplugins-0.25-20120602.0.2.mga2 only is in updates_testing, isn't it?
Comment 2 Samuel Verschelde 2012-08-26 18:16:24 CEST
Colin, what is the status of this update candidate? Also please see Derek's comment #0 (can't read audio-cd, maybe a missing BR or requires)

@Samuel, there was an issue with the update which was still causing segv's but I don't think we ever got to the bottom of it. See bug #5716.

I'm tempted to just do a fresh update of MythTV stuff to the latest fixes branch and push it through updates anyway even with the segv as I've never been able to reproduce it and it seems like a pretty tricky issue to track down :s

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
