The Apache website says Apache 2.4.2 is best release ever (of course, they won't say the opposite). I'm not sure about the benefits to replace Apache 2.2.22 by 2.4.2, but someone with a better expertise than me could tell us if it worths the upgrade or not, based on the release notes:

Apache 2.4.2 is now available in Cauldron.
