I can't see anything wrong with that. Maybe someone else can. You could try replacing: root (hd0,0) with: rootnoverify (hd0,0) in the windows entry in menu.lst If that fails and you want to try using grub2 then I will write a howto for you to try which you will need to print or view on another machine while doing it. You will also need a working live CD and a spare very small usb stick/SD card to store a script. Do not try restoring your windows system or update/alter your Mageia installation in the meantime. OK to try grub2 follow this *carefully*, if you get any error messages STOP and ping me ;) http://paste.debian.net/172724/ Good Luck ;) Created attachment 2443 [details]
instructions
Seems the paste expired - here are the instructions again.
Ah - I was just looking at your RESULTS.txt again and noticed something. Try using this in your Mageia /boot/grub/menu.lst title Windows 7 rootnoverify (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader +1 (In reply to comment #6) > Ah - I was just looking at your RESULTS.txt again and noticed something. > Try using this in your Mageia /boot/grub/menu.lst > > title Windows 7 > rootnoverify (hd0,1) > makeactive > chainloader +1 Doing that & rebooting & choosing to boot Windows 7 gives me a message like: BOOTMGR missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart. After restart I'm unable to repair the partition since I always delete rescue images after installation. OK - Please open a new bug on the non-booting of Win7 issue, giving the exact steps to reproduce and as much information as possible with a fresh RESULTS.txt from the new installation. Assigning this (backport) bug to me. Keywords:

Result for Windows 8
(In reply to comment #9) > I've got same issue with Windows 8 Release Preview. This bug report is now *ONLY* a backport request - please don't clutter it with unrelated stuff about Windows 8 - see comment #8
