Description Tyler 2012-05-30 03:06:12 CEST
Description of problem:
The tablet functions of my HP tc4400 tablet laptop will not work. This is both in Gnome-Shell and KDE4. To note the tablet is of wacom build, and would still not be recognized in KDE even after installing the wacom components (to boot, its extremely annoying/hard to get this system to even boot up at the moment due to a previously filed graphics driver bug)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Gnome or KDE Mageia 2 i586
TC4400 HP Tablet Laptop

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot/install Mageia 2 using xdriver=vesa
2. Attempt to use tablet pen
3. Tablet does not respond in any way, shape, or form. No response from the screen

If possible we may want to look to Ubuntu's files (Or I could take a peak at them myself sometime) as it is compatible with my tablet (not sure how. Its one of the only systems this tablet works with without issue).

Hi Tyler,

Sorry to read about the problems you ran into.

Did you get any further in the mean time?

Or is it better when using the intel graphic driver (I hope with the instructions in bug 6077 you do at least get the intel driver to work)

In the following forum thread, someone reports how he got his (amongst others) HP NR3610 tablet to work
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2448

@ tmb

I don't manage to figure out how touch screens work. Do they need a kernel module and some X11-driver-input-* package?
Can they work at all while using the vesa xdriver?

@Tyler : Is this bugs still valid in Mageia 2 or Cauldron.

@tmb : Can you shine a light on this matter ?

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
