Description of problem:
Using a live cd wireless networks were available (and connected to) but once installed wireless networks are not available with a pop-up dialogue saying
 
Unable to find network interface for selected device (using r8712u driver)

and the drak tools all freeze. Drakconf on the splash screen, drakconnect while trying to configure the wireless interface. The programs cannot even be forcibly killed but the computer must be restarted.

I am connecting to the wireless network with an adapter plugged into a USB port. It is an ASUS WL-167g V3.  The adapter works fine in other computers and the live mageia cd.

Re-installing without removing un-used hardware packages fixed all the problems, but it shouldn't delete packages that make drak tools freeze IMHO.

It seems that the firmware package was not installed or uninstalled:

We have a bug in drakx-net and rpmsrate, since we did not "bind" the r8172u driver to install the rtlwifi-firmware package.

But it does not explain why the tools were freezing.
It would be nice to have the output of "ps axf" when the drakxtools are freezing because rtlwifi-firmware is not installed.

And you could open another bug on the kernel for this oops when you remove the USB wireless adapter:

I have also committed a fix in drakx-net, this will be fixed in Cauldron, and queued for Mageia 2 updates.
