Description claire robinson 2012-05-04 16:33:36 CEST
I don't know if this belongs to kernel or plasma-desktop

Please find syslog and dmesg attached.

This occurred when using AquireImages (scangui) with a /dev/videoX source.

In live mode this had caused a hard lock of the machine, unresponsive to sysrq reisub. Now it is installed it produced this general protection fault and just the desktop became unresponsive, I was still able to switch tty's and the mouse cursor still moved.

Trying to cause the crash again, it worked perfectly one time but the next with a different /dev/videoX it hard locked, unresponsive to sysrq reisub, had to hit reset.

When it hard locks it doesn't produce any logs unfortunately.

With just the desktop unresponsive there doesn't seem to be any process hogging the cpu, the maximum anything is taking is 2%.

All cores are at 0.something% but the load average is steadily increasing 2.80 upwards.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja
