(It didn't show up in the search I did first.) (In reply to comment #5) > OK - will do! > I suppose updating solved your problem? CC:

marja11 Well, I am now past the stage of defining a wireless connection, so cannot re-check. But if you can tell me briefly how to revert to the initial condition, I will go through the 'define wireless connection' process again to check it out for you. OK - using MCC/Network I have removed my WLAN connection, and then asked it to re-create it. That worked fine, but although the Panel icon did then say "Network is now up on...wlan0", MCC/Network is warning me: "Problems occurred during the network connectivity test. This can be caused by invalid network configuration, or problems with your modem or router. You might want to relaunch the configuration to verify the connection settings." I just ignored that, and all worked OK. Earlier I said: "In Network Center, when I first requested a Connect to my WiFi router, the Network Center Panel icon info showed 'Connecting', but the 'Connect' button in the NC window never changed to 'Disconnect', nor did the Panel icon - although in fact the connection had been successful. (In fact, if I clicked again on the 'Connect' button, it thought I was requesting a disconnect!)." Even now, with a fully-updated Mageia-2-Beta3 (equivalent to Mageia-2RC?), when I was away from base today and (successfully) connected to a strange SSID, the 'Connect' button did NOT change to 'Disconnect', even well after the Panel 'fir tree' icon showed the WLAN connection was 'up'... Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja I already reported the situation on May 21st as with Mageia-2 Beta3 fully updated (equivalent to Mageia-2?). When I return to base I will a.s.a.p. install Mageia-2 Official and check further if you need that.

Yes, please test. I hope the problem will disappear, then CC:

mageia Today I installed Mageia-2 Official (32-bit) on this laptop. In 'MCC/Create Network', the whole procedure went smoothly - it found local SSID's and connected to ours as requested. But - as before - after saying "testing your connection" it came up with: "Problems occurred during the network connectivity test. This can be caused by invalid network configuration, or problems with your modem or router. You might want to relaunch the configuration to verify the connection settings." - and did not show the WLAN icon in the panel (although the Network Centre showed the WLAN connection). However, that may be due to the fact that I already had an eth0 connection (in case needed to download wireless code). After I disconnected the eth0 connection, the WLAN icon appeared in the Panel. Also, the WLAN connection in the Network Centre correctly shows a 'Disconnect' button. Is there anything else I can check for you? well these drak-net issue are known, is the original bug resolved ? Not really, because:
(1) As reported a few minutes ago, there is still a false warning of problems.
(2) After disconnecting WLAN and re-connecting eth0, the Network Centre failed to change the 'Connect' button to 'Disconnect'.
(Only after exiting Network Centre and re-entering is the 'Disconnect' seen.
It needs to be seen as soon as a connection is made, otherwise it can be misinterpreted as a failed attempt at connection.)
I.e. it's not a wireless problem, but a Network Centre connection problem.)
yes then the first part of the bug is resolved for the second part it's a duplicate of another reported bug (can't found it with my current browser) Status:
NEW =>
RESOLVED OK - so the original problem has gone, and the others I reported are duplicates of earlier reports (sadly still not fixed in Mageia-2 Official). So this one can be closed. |
