Description Thierry Vignaud 2012-04-25 13:18:23 CEST
For mga1 to mga2 live upgrade to succeed, we need to push a mgaonline update to mga1:
- either latest mgaonline from cauldron into mga1
(providing the notify API works on mga1)
- or backport the cache invalidation fix.
Comment 1 Thierry Vignaud 2012-04-25 13:18:52 CEST
This must be done before releasing mga2.
Anyone can test it.

- invalidate urpmi cache on upgrade

-------------------------------------------------------
Steps to reproduce:

- install/update to update it
- killall mgaapplet
- mgaapplet --testing

Comment 3 claire robinson 2012-04-26 13:31:54 CEST
Is this the same as bug 1588?
Comment 4 Anne Nicolas 2012-04-26 13:34:03 CEST
It is indeed while 1588 dealt with cauldron package rather
Comment 5 claire robinson 2012-04-26 14:06:57 CEST
Testing x86_64

Checking before and after update.

Version: Cauldron => 1

Comment 6 claire robinson 2012-04-26 14:49:29 CEST
Before
------
The upgrade completed without error.

(mga1 minimal with task-lxde and drakconf in VirtualBox)

There is a spelling mistake on the Congratulations window that says you need to reboot. Successfull has one L, it should be successful.

Clicking Reboot doesn't reboot the machine.

Grub still lists the old Mga1 kernel, is it intentionally left behind?

There are some obvious issues after reboot. Not relevant here but worth listing.

- Tries to boot Gnome which isn't installed. (Gnome and GnomeClassic listed)
- LXDE no icons in panel, just white squares with a red X
- LXDE no applications installed, only network centre, image viewer, pa volume control & some tools.
- Openbox lists many apps which are not there (from kde, gnome, xfce and general)

After
-----

After it removes the mga1 mirrors there is a message..

'cached mirror list uses an old format, invalidating it'

I didn't see anything else about urpmi caches and I think that line was there with the current version also.

It upgraded the same number of packages and completed successfully.

Same spelling mistake on completion 'successfull' should be 'successful'

Clicking Reboot still doesn't reboot.
Comment 9 claire robinson 2012-04-26 15:55:31 CEST
Confirmed 'cached mirror list uses an old format, invalidating it' exists in the current mgaonline aswell as the update candidate.
Comment 10 Dave Hodgins 2012-04-27 01:05:57 CEST
I'll test i586 shortly.

Testing complete including a clean upgrade of just over 2100 packages.

Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm
mgaonline-2.77.30-1.mga1.src.rpm
from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates.

Advisory: This update helps upgrading from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2,
by invalidating the urpmi cache when starting the upgrade.

in the same time can you update the package for http://www.mageia.org/en/1/migrate/

174 path = distrib/1/i586/media/core/release/mgaonline-2.77.29-1.mga1.noarch.rpm
http://svnweb.mageia.org/web/www/trunk/en/downloads/downloads.ini?revision=896&view=markup

Thanks

Update pushed.

As for altering package on http://www.mageia.org/en/1/migrate/

I'm not sure it should be done as I dont think this update contains the fixes forcing upgrade from 2010.1 to mga1
