anssi.hannula, thierry.vignaud running lspcidrake -v i see the output ends with the line: Resolution:1400x1050: IBM|ThinkPad T41p Where do it get that bullshit from? Label underside laptop say " TYPE 2379-DXU ". Now it gets interesting because when looking it up on Lenovo indeed say it is 1400x1050 like it gets set to automatically. But in reality it is 1600x1200. And Lenovo say it is a T42 The print on screen frame say T42p (note "p") But lspcidrake say T41p. (note "1") What a mess. Possibly earlier owner have changed the screen AND screen is not asked about its size but the other screens resolution is stored on main board and read from there? BUT... now if this is a T41 or T41p as lspcidrake thinks it is interesting, as according to http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-58183 the resolution 1400x1050 is not available on any such model. The same is true for T42 / T42p : 1400x1050 do not exist on any such model. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-57839 So i guess no parts of the system will ever say it have 1400x1050 resolution screen. So it must be a bug about how it is read. I am tired... first now realised the discrepancy that when searching on the TYPE on Lenovo site it say it is 1400x1050, but on the product range T41 T41p T42 T42p that resolution is not possible to buy. (well not as standard anyway) What a mess. Anssi is the de factor maintainer of harddrake service. @anssi: there must be a bogus check if we rewrite xorg.conf on every boot CC:

mageia Anssi, on the subject of xorg.conf rewriting, i also have Bug 4689 . There some VNC lines vanished, possibly after I changed monitor. Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja Keywords:

NEEDINFO 2 months later, no reply, closing as old. Please reopen when needed and tell for which version(s) of Mageia this bug is still valid. If it is valid for both cauldron and Mageia 2, then please put MGA2TOO on the whiteboard and let version remain set to cauldron Status:
