Description claire robinson 2012-04-18 11:24:43 CEST
Pre-release testing beta 3 x86_64 DVD with a default KDE installation onto real hardware.

When checking hardware in mcc some items are listed twice with slightly different names and using different modules.

Under Keyboard it shows 'Dell USB Smartcard Keyboard' module usbhid and 'Gemplus Dell USB Smartcard Keyboard' module sysrq. Keyboard does work, not tested the card slot. It also shows two Power Button's with module kbd. There are no power/suspend/multimedia etc buttons on the keyboard.

Under Mouse it shows 'Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with IntelliEye(TM)' using module 'Mouse:USB|Wheel' and 'Microsoft Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with IntelliEye(TM)' using module 'mouse0'. Mouse does work.

QuickCam Messanger (should it be Messenger?) shown in Unrecognised/Others with zc3xx module. Also zc3xx is shown there as a hardware item with module kbd. Webcam does work though.

'eHome Infrared Transceiver' is shown in Unrecognised/Others with module mceusb and also shown is 'Media Center Ed. eHome Infrared Transceiver (1784:0001)' with module kbd. Does work.

This is somewhat related but I think perhaps different. Under Keyboard it also lists 8 sound devices as 'HDA Intel' (Line, Front Mic, Rear Mic etc).

I will attach output of lspcidrake -v and lsusb -v

Please dont mix several issues in one bug next time (here: duplicates & 1 unrecognized item).
The unrecognized item is fixed in SVN

Power buttons don't came from the keyboard but from the computer box and are linked to the motherboard directly => invalid

For the other stuff classed in "unknown", please attach screenshots of right part for each item.
Comment 5 claire robinson 2012-04-18 23:10:09 CEST
There are no unrecognised items, the ones shown in the 'Unrecognised/Other' hardware section are duplicated (shown twice), see screenshot attachment 2023 [details].

The power buttons are being shown in the keyboard section, see screenshot again, along with 8 sound devices.

It is only one issue, apart from things like power buttons and sound devices being classified as a keyboard. I can create a separate bug for that if you wish.
Comment 6 claire robinson 2012-04-18 23:12:58 CEST
The section is actually titled 'Unknown/Others', not 'Unrecognised/Others'.

All info is there though.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja
