nanardon No I don't think so. I tried to load the module manually and got the message system does not support nis server. With Mageia 1 I didn't need webmin to install the nis server. I installed beta 3 last night and it also has the same problem. I did noticed that even though I put "NISDOMAIN" in the etc/sysconfig/network file its not being set. I installed the RC last night and it also has the same problem.

(none) Nope still doesn't work. I installed the final yesterday. Same problem. still wont be able to roll out to the server. Also forgot to mention I can't Webmin to configure the nis server. NISDOMAIN is not usally set by ypserv but by initscript (Networks one). So I'll check but I think this issue does not belong to ypserv. I can confirm (a) that this is also a Mageia 2 issue, and have changed the "Version" accordingly. The reason is simply that the initscripts fail to call the "domainname" command (or any of its equivalents) to set the NIS domain name. My fix: Add the lines - if [ "$NISDOMAIN" ] - then - nisdomainname "$NISDOMAIN" - fi to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-eth After this, NIS client works well. Keith Refson CC:

krefson Nope still don't work with Alpha 2. Tried the fix mentioned With Mageia 2 and Alpha 2 but that didn't work ether. This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life. Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.
