what do you use for installing you 'local' rpm ? urpmi * or urpmi ./xxxx.rpm should use them (iirc) (you can also add -v or --debug to see more details) Keywords:

NEEDINFO urpmi filename.rpm as i'm in the relevant directory already, I hadn't considered the need to put a ./ in front of the filename.

(none) works for me. Please attach (not paste) output of urpmi. eg: the log.txt file resulting from running urpmi -vv --debug foobar.rpm 2>&1|tee log.txt
