Comment 4 Jacques Pronchery 2012-04-03 07:48:44 CEST
I founded the error :
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to:
/run/user/jacques/keyring-csmN8l/pkcs11: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
It is necessary to active "storage of keys and certificates" in lxsession-edit.

But the applet do not appear.
I have the information errors :
Printer <<Epson-Stylus-SX405>> : <<cups-ipp-conformance-failure-report>>.
Printer <<Epson-Stylus-SX405>> : <<cups-ipp-missing-job-history>>.
Comment 5 Derek Jennings 2012-04-08 21:51:28 CEST
I have verified this problem
Using Cauldron with system-config-printer-1.3.9-2.mga2 with LXDE

To verify this bug I switched the printer off and put a job into the job queue.
A message box appears saying the printer is switched off as expected, but there is no icon in the system tray to allow me to check on the printer/job status.

I then did the same thing with Mageia 1, and the printer icon appeared in the LXDE system tray as expected.

system-config-printer applet starts automatically at log in. Here are the entries from ps aux

 1.8 44356 20504 ? S 20:31 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-printer/applet.py
derek 14423 0.2 2.1 281732 24492 ? Sl 20:31 0:01 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-printer/scp-dbus-service.py

I do not get any messages regarding gnome-keyring. I do not think it is related to this bug.

I am getting the same problem in Gnome as well.
I have tried two different Cauldron installations. One using Mageia2 Beta 3 iso, and the other a network install of current Cauldron

In both cases the system-config-printer-applet does not appear in the system tray when there are outstanding jobs in the queue using either Gnome or LXDE.
When using KDE4 the system-config-printer-applet appears as expected.
Comment 7 Derek Jennings 2012-05-02 12:04:50 CEST
Still present in Mageia 2 RC
Changing title to include Gnome as affected.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

And is system-config-printer-applet in the "starting apps" of lxde and gnome ?
Comment 12 Jacques Pronchery 2012-06-17 07:09:12 CEST
In LXDE system-config-printer-applet is in /etc/xdg/autostart
and is checked in lxsession-edit.

> And is system-config-printer-applet in the "starting apps" of lxde and gnome ?

Yes. The applet is running
$ ps aux | grep printer
derek 29126 0.1 0.6 270400 24292 ? S 16:41 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-printer/applet.py
derek 29166 0.3 0.8 649180 32892 ? Sl 16:41 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/system-config-printer/scp-dbus-service.py
derek 29727 0.0 0.0 10924 856 pts/0 S+ 16:42 0:00 grep --color printer

The applet is supposed to be visible in the system tray when there is a print job in the queue. In KDE and XFCE this works normally. In Gnome and LXDE the applet is not visible.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
