Description of problem:

RS880 [Radeon HD 4200] frame rate has degraded from Mandriva's 2011 220 FPS
to Mageia's 2 170 to latest update giving 80.  :(

Using teapot application from mesa-demos package to get frame rates.

Going to make a WAG and blame oxygen-gtk 1.2.2  as the culprit.

I did a startx IceWM, clicked up xterm
and teapot returned a 192 FPS.

Temporary workaround:
Click up a terminal
$ systemsettings
  click Desktop Effects
  In Configure desktop effects
  Click Advanced tab
  change Composting type: from OpenGL to XRender

Frame rate went from 80+ to 130+

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Still valid.

$ teapot snippet.

with Default desktop effects  Frame rate: 72.890663

with disabled desktop effects Frame rate: 187.312683

Closing bug since amd/ati is no longer supporting older drivers
