Hello, Certain operations donât require the disk to be mounted like reading a cdrom/dvdrom. If this operation does not work, it might be a problem with your driver, or maybe a kernel bug. Could you insert a disk and attach the output of the dmesg command ? Keywords:

dmorganec how does it works in current cauldron ? In my case, I see cdrom drive not mounted only when I start system with a media inserted before start machine (it's a VM). I need eject media via Virtualbox menu and only after, if I insert it, it is detected and automounted. CC:

mageia A GUI reading a cdrom may not need to mount it, but the contents aren't visible in a terminal until it is mounted. Bug 145 has the same cause: if the cdrom is not mounted automatically, it is not available to urpmi etc. I found it necessary to mount the cdrom manually after inserting it, to let the installer see it. laidlaws Is the bug still present in today's Cauldron? CC:
