Description Ojangu 2012-03-25 18:15:07 CEST
Description of problem:KDE Taskbar don't show open application windows icons. This new widget on taskbar is not so good and usable. I can't see open windows icons and very hard to find out needed window.
Additionally if open window located on the other screen, i can't see it anywhere on taskbar.

This new widget is very good to using separately from taskbar.
Place give back this oldfashion taskbar.

Hope my problem is similar:
I have a dual-monitor desktop and experience a difficulty with the widget
"Icon-only Task Manager", that comes as a default task manager in KDE main panel.
The need for such widget is growing because it minimizes the space for showing launched applications but seems it works normally on single-monitor desktops.

When opened windows that are located on the main monitor - widget "Icon-only Task Manager" shows corresponding markings on the icons, BUT when the windows is dragged on the second monitor - widget removes the icon or removes the marks on the icon (if the launcher icon has option "Show A Launcher When Not Running" enabled and the following click on icon launches another copy of application instead of minimizing it).

For testing this widget I've added a new panel and placed another copy of the widget and it works as it should.

The current solution for this problem - is to remove the default widget and add it afterwards.

I have same problem on separate monitor.

Before Default-kde4-config-2-0.20120402.1.mga2 (2012-04-02), the default configuration for icontasks only shows tasks from the current screen.
I fixed the default setting to show tasks from all the screens (affects only new accounts) since Default-kde4-config-2-0.20120402.1.mga2.

If you right click on icontasks, and choose 'Icon-Only Task Manager Settings', you find lots of configuration options in 'Appearance' and 'Behaviour' sections.
In 'Behaviour' / 'Filters' you can choose the tasks that you want to show in icontasks (uncheck "Only show tasks from the current screen" to see tasks from all the screens).

If you don't like icontasks and prefer the oldfashion taskbar, we provide a panel template with the oldfashion taskbar, "Mageia Classic Panel", available by the "Desktop" activity button (cashew replacement) / "Add Panel".
You just need to remove the default panel (Panel Options/Remove this panel) and add the "Mageia Classic Panel".
