Description Samuel Verschelde 2012-03-22 22:03:17 CET
We only guarantee upgrade from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2. The installer should not propose to upgrade a Mandriva installation, an old Mageia 1 beta or other.

This way we would prevent unwanted upgrades and give a strong and clear message that upgrade is only possible from Mageia 1.

Users who still want to upgrade from anything else than Mageia 1 can still use urpmi.

(note: mga_applet too should not ask for upgrade from anything but Mageia 1, but maybe this is already ok?)

Setting release blocker, as this bug report must be closed before final release, either fixed or wontfix.

Priority: Normal => release_blocker

CC: (none) => mageia

Comment 2 Dave Hodgins 2012-03-22 22:07:01 CET
It should also allow upgrading a cauldron installation, in my opinion.

I do not agree on this at all. Users can update, the point is we do not officially support it. BTW this should have been reported much before.

And can't we warn at least?
Comment 5 Anne Nicolas 2012-04-02 16:01:18 CEST
This will be documented in Mageia websites (blog, web site) and all announcements about Mageia 2
