Description Jacques Pronchery 2012-03-17 11:54:07 CET
On my PC when I install Mageia-LXDE I have not the same kernel :
in 32 bits I have : Kernel-server-3.3.0-rc7.1.mga2
in 64 bits I have : Kernel-desktop-3.3.0-rc7.1.mga2

The UC is AMD Athlon dual core 64 bits with 4096 Mo of RAM

How can we choose the kernel ?

You probably get server kernel on 32-bit system thanks to your computer's memory amount. 32-bit desktop kernel can't use all of the 4GB, so installer picks server kernel.
If you really want to use desktop kernel (with less memory in use) then you can install kernel-desktop-latest.
