Description José Jorge 2012-03-05 09:18:12 CET
As reported upstream : https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42867 we have a kernel lock on Broadcom 4312 hardware if no firmware files are found.

Installing b43-openfwwf worksaround the problem for me.

Seems I tested it badly. I could try the LiveCD Beta3, and the bug is still there.

As we have an open-source firmware available, the solution could be to include it in the Live CDs : b43-openfwwf should be required by all the kernels...

I commited something to meta-task that I hope will ensure b43-openfwwf is always installed : not only this worksaround this bug, but will also allow direct wifi use on LiveCD.
