NEEDINFO Trying to close the computer will only först closing kde and goto kdm (login window) An when then trying to close computer it will NOT power off the computer, just close kdm and maybe close the processes (I can't see how far the the shotdown is going) This sounds like it is related to the issue of "halt" no longer causing a power-off. Somebody noticed that the standards call for halt to simply shut down the OS, but not power off the machine. You're supposed to use "poweroff" for that now. The other bit (can't shutdown from within KDE) has been reported under other bugs. CC:
