Description Kormarun Danor 2012-02-24 19:45:25 CET
Description of problem:
While starting Mageia 2 Beta on my PC udev permanently fails while initializing the home and swap partitions. After blocking the booting for around 1 minute the system crashes and I only see a black screen. I do have this problem on ALL distrubutions/releases of Linux exepting MANDRIVA 2010.2 and my selfbuild 3.2.0 Kernel. The installation worked properly without any notices of incompatible hardeware. The /var/log/messages (and so on) do not show any piece of information or notice.

I took 2 "screenshots"(=photos of my screen). You can see them here:
http://kormarun.bplaced.net/mageia
(Sorry for the bad quality of the photos. If you need more pictures/information, you will need to write me a mail to nl1993 (at) web.de )

I am guessing is a compability problem between standart kernel and the SATA6G Controler of my Mainboard.
Hardware:
Mainboard: ASUS P8H61 PRO Rev.3.0 with ASMedia® ASM1061 controller

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 2 Beta 1 Kernel

How reproducible:
Start and wait

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Buy the same Board & Use HDD on SATA6G port
2. Install Mageia
3. Start PC and have fun(with the bug)

Sorry for the bad english

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

@ Kormarun
@ Fabien

Thanks for reporting this issue.

Can you please tell us whether this was solved for Mageia 2 final/stable?

If so, please remove the NEEDINFO keyword and put:

And of course, if it got fixed please change the status to:
RESOLVED - FIXED

Thanks :)
