Also noticed that telling it to shutdown just takes you back to the kdm login screen. Not sure if that is related. Can you reproduce the bug ?

NEEDINFO I've noticed this too, although as my KDE setup is getting old, I figured the Leave icon was out of date or something. Clicking it gives the logoff popup, but nothing happens after that. Clicking it again does not give the popup. Using the Leave -> Log out option from the Application Launcher works fine, so it's an issue with the Leave icon when placed in the panel. CC:
