During the install, I selected Custom partitioning. Selected sda4 for /
Selected done. Dialog goes blank, and there's a 4 minute wait with
nothing apparent happening before it pops up the dialog asking if I
want to format sda4.

Just confirming the to attachments were created roughly three minutes
after I selected done in the custom partitioning, having selected sda4
as the only partition, with mountpoint /.

After 4 minutes, the "Formating dialog does show up.

Just noticed the command in the report.bug. Attaching the output just
in case it's relevant. The command takes 2.005s.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Dave, is this bug still valid in Mageia 5RC?

Comment 12 Thierry Vignaud 2015-06-02 15:05:24 CEST
It was probably a blkid or a mount issue, where we tried to mount the ISO image that was dumped on a USB stick:

* running: blkid -o udev -p /dev/sdd1
* blkid gave: iso9660  Mageia-2-i586-beta1
* mounting /dev/sdd1 on /fd as type iso9660, options
* running: mount -t iso9660 /dev/sdd1 /fd
mount: /dev/sdd1 already mounted or /fd busy
