Using Mageia 2 beta 1 iso (based on 15/02 repository) and installing default KDE desktop in Virtualbox

Rebooting put me in console without any X started.

Switching to gdm did the trick and everything was working fine.

/etc/systemd/system/default.target symlink goes to runlevel5.target
systemctl status prefdm.service =>http://pastebin.com/cdMvbm2j

As colin asked me, I modified /etc/X11/prefdm to run "/bin/plymouth quit" unconditionally. This solved the issue.

Could you check that our patch for kde-workspace are in sync or eventually if removing them does not simply fix this issue ? (i'm not able to reproduce/test currently due to missing cauldron's box )

our kdebase-workspace-4.7.3.fedora-kdm-plymouth.patch is in sync with Fedora kdebase-workspace-4.4.92-kdm_plymouth081.patch

I can't reproduce this bug for now.
The fix in prefdm (thanks dmorgan) is probably more robust than Fedora's patch.
btw, this Fedora's patch is still not accepted upstream.

I wonder if we shouldn't keep the fix in prefdm, and remove kdebase-workspace-4.7.3.fedora-kdm-plymouth.patch for mga2.

initscripts including workaround was added to pre release iso and fix the bug for now

Is this problem still showing up in current cauldron? I've done some fixups in various places and removed the initscripts work around a week or so ago.

It works fine here without the workaround in /etc/X11/prefdm.
