This is actually over six months old and was reported in https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=58388 .

Too add to what's there. GNOME no longer recognizes that you have manually ejected the volume (consistently), and it happens with both SL and DL media.

The crazy thing is that GNOME has to know why this happens, or it wouldn't know enough to put up the prompt. It would be nice if it said so.

Oh, and now that k3b is operational again, it's out of the picture. It ejects just fine. This is a GNOME issue.

The upstream bug report is for 2.30.x, but in it Ubuntu and Gentoo users report the same bug in 2.32.

There is a newer version of brasero, 3.2.0, but the release notes don't say anything about this bug being solved :(

The bug occurs even if you run brasero under KDE4 in current cauldron, and it happens consistently.

If you click OK to clear the prompt to eject, but don't actually eject the disk, and then try to read the raw device, e.g. /dev/sr1, you get an immediate EOF. I'd bet cash money that brasero is unmounting the DVD before it tries to eject the disk, and getting an error on the eject because of that, probably because unmounting it undoes the ownership or ACL that gave the user write access to it.

In the upstream bug report, one user added a comment stating that the bug is still there in brasero 3.2.0

Do we still have it in Brasero-3.2.0-2.mga2?
Comment 6 Palm Pre 2012-01-25 01:38:12 CET
I have it on 2.32.1 on Mageia 1.

Mageia 2 may have a newer version. I didn't try it yet.

This appears to have been fixed in current cauldron for a few weeks now.
