Description Tico Perez 2012-02-05 11:42:44 CET
Description of problem:

Changing the dpi settings in KDE system-settings only affects GTK applications, qt applications and some KDE applications, but not the main ones (dolphon, kwrite, plasma itself, etc)

More info:

Since the friday, the text size of most of my kde applications suddenly is much smaller than what it is specified in the dpi setting in system-settings (96 dpi).

I've noticed that changing the dpi setting affects gtk applications, qt applications and some KDE applications (kmess, juk, amarok, kdiff3, some games) while main kde applications (dolphin, kate, kwrite, konqueror, plasma itself, etc) still have the same small text regardless of how big the dpi setting is.

System reboots don't help at all with the issue.

Some more info: when opening dolphin, kwrite, etc with a command in konsole, they have proper font size.

Same as this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268096 ?

It is not exactly same bug, because that bug seems to happen to every appplication, while in this one it only happens to the main kde programs.

Anyways, I can confirm that the .fonts.conf hack doesn't work with this bug either.

So it's this one https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=273343 and related ( c#2) :p

Yes that looks more like it. Someone posted some workaround in the mageia forum:
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1855

The workaround doesn't mean that the bug doesn't exist, but at least it works as a fix.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja
