Description Richard Walker 2012-01-25 01:58:51 CET
Up to date Cauldron (MGA2 Alpha3), LXDE desktop. Using pcmanfm 0.9.10 1mga x86_64
The default left upper panel shows home, desktop, applications and mountable media (floppy, external drives).

Icons are provided for connected drives and deleted when the drives are removed. The icon can be used to mount and unmount removable media or eject optical discs.

This drive management has disappeared. No Icons are created for external USB drives - memory or disc based - or for data CDs.

Except: One of my external drives also contains a Windows VFAT partition. As above, no icons appear but it automatically mounts and its contents are displayed in a new tab in pcmanfm.

All options in pcmanfm Preferences for Volume Management are selected.

After latest updates (23:59 GMT 25 Jan);

Uninstalled all LXDE-related packages. Removed all user configuration files for LXDE and components. Re-installed LXDE and restored configuration. No change.

I'm seeing the same thing (see my ML post from the last few days "Automount broken"). Under LXDE, the DE has no idea that a disk has been loaded. KDE "knows", but doesn't mount the volume under /media, so most apps can't access it.

Strange, I find slightly different behaviour, probably because I don't use KDE. All my external drive partitions appear in Konqueror's "Places" view and can be mounted/unmounted there. The mount point is created in /media and a pcmanfm window opens with the newly mounted drive contents in the display.

I have set pcmanfm preferences to display newly mounted drives.

However, a link in my home directory which points to a particular mount no longer works from pcmanfm. It works in konqueror and mc.

Correction to last point in my last comment. pcmanfm WILL follow a symbolic link to an external drive partition mounted by konqueror, but you have to hit F5 to re-read the directory containing the link to update its status and make it work.

Whatever the problem was for pcmanfm it seems to be working now. Did anyone do anything? I didn't notice any likely looking updates in the dozen or so that came tonight.
